Friday night in East Texas

As I have lived in Texas for a while now, and East Texas for a year, I have learned just how important high school football is around here. We went to the high school football game at Winnsboro High, where Kris went to high school and played football, this past Friday night. The main reason we went was to watch our niece, Skylar, cheer during half time. The game was a lot of fun though, even though the score was 42-0 at half time. Good thing Winnsboro was winning! We left shortly after she cheered to get the little guy down for bed.

This was just a little cat nap. I don't know what all he could see on the field, but he knew something was going on because he was watching the field the entire time (except when he was napping of course!)
Zack and Daddy in sporting their red - Go Red Raiders!!!
Here is Zack with his cousin Paris. I just thought this picture was hilarious - they both look like they are having so much fun!
Football games are a family affair. I know this isn't the best picture, but you can see Kris' grandma (Nanny) sitting in the stands cheering, at the young age of 86! She brought her stadium seat and sat in the front row. She is a true Red Raider's fan!
At half-time, Skylar did her cheers and dances. All of the girls did a great job!

Happy 5 months!

The past week's review

Well, life is getting a little more busy with the little guy! He sure does not want to just lay there anymore as he once did. While this is very exciting, it is tiring as well. I know, I know - it will only get more tiring and busy from here!
I have been doing more things too to keep myself mentally sound. I have joined a mother's Bible study, as well as a play group that meets once a week, eats lunch, and talk about the babies (Zack is actually the oldest of the 4 - 3 boys and 1 girl - so there is not much playing going on yet!) We also went to the reading hour at the library today. I guess you can never start too young!
Here are a few updates from the past couple of weeks.

Zack has become a little eating machine! He cries when I take the spoon out of his mouth to get more food and gobbles up everything in sight! He has now eaten rice cereal, sweet potatoes, peas, bananas, carrots - and are starting pears tomorrow. So far there is nothing that the little guy does not like (even though this face may have you believe otherwise - this was one of his first bites of sweet potatoes)!
Well as we figured, he has managed to put his toes in his mouth. It is so funny, because with his cloth diapers on, he can not reach his mouth (I guess the diapers are too bulky!). I laugh every time when I change his diaper because the moment I take off his diaper, his toes go immediately to his mouth!

Of course when his toes are not available, he still has his fingers in his mouth!

Here are my men! So handsome!

Bath time is still one of his favorites! Look at the rolls on those legs!

Zack has been wanting to stand when we hold him. I was curious to see if he was able to hold himself up on the table. Sure enough he did it! I am not ready for this little guy to grow up so fast! I know he will not walk tomorrow, but everyday he amazes me by what he can do!

Music to Mommy and Daddy's ears!

We have been trying to get Zack to nap in his crib, and get on a better nap schedule. For this reason, I have been listening to a LOT of crying lately (not just crying, but screaming!!!). I have been good and not been getting him out of his crib. Eventually he has fallen asleep each time - it just takes a while!

Well, since I have been listening to so much crying, I thought I would remind myself, and share with you, the happy times in the Thornton house. I must keep telling myself that he will still love me when he gets up, and he will still smile and laugh - even though I made him take a nap in his crib. Thank you all for listening to me babble, and helping me through my therapy session for the day! LOL :)

Solid Food (if rice cereal counts!)

Today was our 4 month check up with Dr. McCrory. We also endured a few shots as well today! Zack now weighs 13.8 lbs., and is 25 inches long. She said that he is looking great, and she told us that we need to start feeding him rice cereal. Of course we got all excited and ran out to buy the cereal for the little man. Here are a few pictures of this new experience.
This picture is before he decides if he really likes the taste.

Still deciding...

Nope - I don't like it!!! After this moment, he kept spitting it out. I hope that this is just to the cereal being new, and not that he is a picky eater like his Mommy!

Ok Mom, just stop!

I like to look at it though!

Now I know you are not supposed to put the Bumbo seat on the table, but we were with him the whole time, and we have not yet purchased a high chair!

A few of our favorite things

Lately we have become aware of a few of Zack's favorite things (besides his mommy and daddy of course), and here we have documented a few of them. A few other updates from this week - we are still teething, but no tooth has come through yet. Zack also has a cold that we think he got from the Church nursery. Lots of sneezing, coughing and goo have filled our days around here (not to mention the slobber from teething!)
Meet Bear Blanky. Bear Blanky has become part of our family as he goes everywhere with us. Of course Zack can not yet ask for Bear Blanky, but every time we give it to him, he holds on to it and snuggles with it. He is not sleeping with it, but he especially enjoys having it in the carseat. Don't tell Zack, but we have 2 Bear Blankies just in case something happens to one of them, or one is dirty. We are catching on to this parent thing slowly but surely!!

Another favorite thing lately are the fingers. He constantly has those fingers in his mouth - not sucking, but chewing. We are just counting down the days until we get those teeth!
Here is Zack-man with his favorite man, Daddy. He loves to stand up and here Kris has him walking (well, you know - moving his feet and stepping forward). How about that bald spot on the back of his head! I promise he isn't always laying down on his back!!!

Here are a few pictures of another favorite - Zack's feet. Just this week Zack has found his feet, and he is always holding on to them or playing with them. It is so cute! He has not yet put his toes in his mouth, but I am sure that will be coming soon as well!

Here he is holding his feet and watching college football. Daddy hopes that college football will too become one of his favorite things.

Here is our little giraffe that Aunt Patty Barnhorn gave Zack. The giraffe has been named Alf. Alf can make Zack laugh more than Mommy can! Once again, Zack loves to hold on to Alf and snuggle with him (and constantly put him in his mouth!).
